Program C: Community Education and Assistance Programs

 
 


Agriculture Programs:  The Organic Agriculture Programs build on basic environmental education to teach modern, effective and alternative agriculture methods. These eco friendly techniques are relatively low-tech, low cost and low impact. The ability to use these new skills to start a business will be assisted, as well as the knowledge to incorporate them into aspects of everyday local life. 
R.O.L.E.’s Agriculture Programs will teach skills and knowledge in:

  • Organic Farming
  • Native Fruits
  • Natural Medicine Plants
  • Reforestation
  • Permaculture
  • Natural Cotton and Organic Dyes
  • Snail Farming
  • Free Range Ducks and Cows

Marine Programs:  The R.O.L.E. marine programs are focused on attaining a balance of reef conservation, revival and re-growth; plus job and business development in ocean farming for coastal communities.  The programs focus on Marine Revival and Ocean Farming to enhance job creation in coastal communities without harming the environment.

  • Marine Park Attainment & Maintenance (Marine Protected Area - MPA)
  • Marine Re-growth and Monitoring
  • Fresh Ocean Farming Support

R.O.L.E.’s Eco Construction ProgramsThe Eco Construction Programs currently operating at the R.O.L.E. Eco Vocational Park consist of demonstration, education and job creation aspects.  Each has, or is planned to have, a combined demonstration and teaching area as well as experienced exponents of the skills involved to assist development of:

  • Renewable Energy
  • Waste Management
  • Water Harvesting and Reuse

Personal Skill Development:  As an extension of the R.O.L.E. Life & Work Skills Program, students learn job skills in new areas then previously taught.  Teaching will also focus on healthy lifestyles and decisions for assisting families, such as:

  • Women’s and Family Health
  • Health and Wellness
  • Performing Arts
  • Organic Dying and Weaving

Product Development:  Using local and R.O.L.E. products as a catalyst for developing businesses for local people.  R.O.L.E. will teach small business skills and develop the talents of local people who can not start businesses of their own without support.  Products currently under development include:

    • Traditional Handycrafts
    • Natural Jamu, Creams and Lotions
    • Seaweed Products
    • Organic Fabrics
