4 REASONS for CLEANING UP BALI & REVIVING the HEALTH of the ENVIRONMENT
1. Tourism - Bali was once thought of as a unique tropical paradise, the island of the Gods. This is how it is now advertised. The Tourist Opinion of Bali is not good. Bali has rubbish on most beaches, plastics floating in the waters, and the smell of burning plastic in the air. Most reefs are damaged and not interesting to divers and uninhabitable to marine life. Rubbish lines all the streets. The harbor is full of trash and the land fill smells. The Badung region of Bali derives 90% of its income from Tourism, that is 90% of jobs and profit. Tourist risk getting sick from pollutant.
There are many alternate clean tourist destinations, both in the Pacific, and close by in Thailand, Malaysia etc. Bali is heavily dependent on tourism, so it is imperative to fix this manmade disaster or run the risk of becoming an Environmental Disaster, like Jakarta, with massive unemployment.
2. Health of People / Children – Toxic smoke and fumes are causing respiratory problems in our children. Scientist warn the results of these toxic fumes mainly from burning plastics will show up in the children as they grow into adulthood, with cancer a major concern. Stagnating garbage is an ideal breeding ground for mosquitoes and flies, which spread diseases such as dengue fever, malaria, dysentery, cholera etc.
3. Quality of Life – The quality of life for the average person living in Bali is deteriorating, along with the environment. Pollutants make people tired, short tempered and dissatisfied with life. Diminishing income due to the shrinking tourism market could put pressure on the quality of family life for all, living in Bali.
4. Living in Harmony – People enjoy the beauty and pleasure of a healthy environment. Because of the rapid modernization of Bali, the philosophy of “Tri Hita Karana” is in jeopardy of being lost. The unique birds and animals, tress and forest, marine life and reefs, need to be preserved for the well being of all.

In Summary: Tourism (Job and Profit), Health of the People (Especially the children), Quality of Life, and Living in Harmony are all dependant on the revival of a Healthy Environment.
Tri Hita Karana.
Together we can restore the balance.
