New Graduate!

Ni Kadek Ariani
It has been extremely busy of late here at Role Foundation’s Women’s School in Nusa Dua. In July Ni Kadek Ariani became the first student to graduate from the Role Foundation’s vocational program.  The 26 year old from Tuban was working washing laundry prior to getting married and having children. According to Balinese tradition when she married Kadek moved to her husband’s home village of Kutuh with their two young children.
It was only when her husband became unemployed, losing a contract to undertake some carpentry work that the opportunity arose for Kadek to enroll in the teaching program.  It meant that he could now stay at home and look after the children while she came to school. Kadek decided to join the school, as it was an opportunity to improve her English and computer skills.
Now having graduated Kadek is working as a housekeeper for a villa in Kutuh where she is putting her new English language skills to good use. Her husband has also secured new work contracts. Role Foundation would like to congratulate Kadek on all her hard work and wish the whole family the very best for the future.

Job CreationNi Wayan Rasmini

Ni Wayan Rasmini has been a student at Role Foundation’s Women’s School since April. She is a member of the Seaweed Association in Kutuh Village and with Role’s help, hopes to eventually manage the Seaweed Co-operative. They are currently looking to obtain a computer to catalogue their business and Wayan is enthusiastically studying Microsoft Word and Excel in preparation for this. Her husband who works in Kutuh is extremely supportive of Wayan encouraging her to continue with her schooling. In the mean time when she is not studying, collecting seaweed, or looking after her two young children, her improved English has lead to Role Foundation securing her a job undertaking cleaning services for the company Contained Energy.
